Summer Internship: Jenna Ashton
Adam and I were connected through my family charity, the MCA Trust , an organisation he ardently champions. In 2010 my family instituted the charity, with the objective of improving the quality of life for children affected by cancer. Over the years we have raised several hundreds of thousands of pounds through donations and a number of events including golf days, family fun days and dinner parties. The money raised is directed at enhancing paediatric facilities in hospitals, orchestrating incredible holidays for the children and their families, financing celebratory occasions such as birthday parties and funding specialist equipment, to name a few.
During my internship, and despite my absence of prior legal education, I was immediately immersed in a range of legal cases, from matters concerning construction to property disputes. Notably, my interest grew towards litigation cases where, despite the initial challenges of the process, I found myself engrossed in an extensive growth of knowledge across diverse legal domains. This experience developed my research and analytical skills, which will continue to be enhanced in my future academic pursuits.
Collaborating closely with Adam enabled me to understand a solicitor’s workload at a profound level. The methods he employs in cultivating transparent and innovative client relationships left a mark on me, and I hope I am able to integrate these practices into my prospective career path. Throughout my time at Adam Benedict, I was embraced as a valued member of the team by Adam, Ben and the other Smmer Interns, who all generously extended their guidance in clarifying tasks and providing support where needed.
Entering this work experience with only primary legal knowledge was initially a formidable prospect. Yet, under Adam's guidance, I was encouraged to stretch the boundaries of my abilities and transform setbacks into opportunities for growth. My self-assurance, perseverance, and resilience have undeniably expanded as a result of my experience at Adam Benedict's practice.
I am incredibly grateful for the invaluable opportunity given to me by Adam and Ben, which has demonstrated their unwavering commitment to nurturing the development and progression of future legal practitioners. Looking ahead, the skill set cultivated during my tenure at Adam Benedict's firm will be indispensable in shaping both my academic pursuits and professional journey.
